How this is calculated, and what it is based on

Income Tax — England, Wales & Northern Ireland (2026/27)

Income Tax — Scotland (2026/27)

Scotland sets its own bands and rates for non-savings income. This calculator applies the Scottish bands shown in the source below. The Personal Allowance is the same UK-wide figure and the same £100,000 taper applies.

National Insurance (Class 1, category A)

Student loans (2026/27 thresholds)

What this does not cover. This is an annual estimate for a single employment with a standard tax code and no other income. It does not model emergency or non-standard tax codes, the Marriage Allowance, Blind Person's Allowance, benefits in kind (P11D), the High Income Child Benefit Charge, salary sacrifice, or the way PAYE spreads tax across the year — your monthly payslip will differ and is reconciled over the tax year. Your employer's National Insurance is not a deduction from your pay and is not shown.
Sources and date checked. Rates and thresholds taken from GOV.UK, Rates and thresholds for employers 2026 to 2027. Checked 30 August 2026. The 2026/27 tax year runs from 6 April 2026 to 5 April 2027. If you spot a figure that has moved, email zkqm01@gmail.com and we will correct it and update the date.
